Back to the Green City: A Tale of Brotherhood and the Stalwarts Reunion
It’s been nearly a decade since the Class of 2017 walked out of the gates of Kakamega School, trading their green blazers for the unpredictable hustle of the real world. On March 28th, 2026, that journey came full circle.
While our roots are firmly planted in the red soil of Western Kenya, the "Stalwarts" took over the city for one night. We swapped the familiar sights of the rainforest for the skyline of Westlands, gathering at the Golden Tulip for a dinner that was less of a formal meeting and more of a long-overdue family gathering.
More Than Just a School
Kakamega School has a reputation that precedes it. Whether it’s the academic giants who conquer the national exams or the legendary rugby players who treat the pitch like a battlefield, the school molds a specific kind of man. The Stalwarts represent a unique chapter of that legacy.
In 2017, we were just a bunch of teenagers trying to figure it all out. Fast forward to 2026 at the Golden Tulip, and the room was filled with engineers, doctors, entrepreneurs, and creatives. Yet, the moment the first person shouted a school chant, the years of "adulting" vanished. For a few hours, we weren't CEOs or managers, we were just the boys from Kakamega.
The Architecture of the Night
An event this seamless doesn't just happen by accident. It took months of planning, late-night WhatsApp debates, and serious logistics to get everyone under one roof. The heavy lifting was done by a dedicated team of alumni who truly lived up to the motto, “In unity is strength.”
A Night of Reflections
The dinner wasn’t just about the three-course meal (though the food was excellent); it was about the stories. We talked about the grueling rugby practices under the hot sun, the pre-exam jitters, and the teachers who pushed us harder than we thought we could go.
There’s something special about the bond between the Class of 2017. We went through a pivotal time in the school’s history, and that shared struggle forged a brotherhood that hasn't rusted with time. Looking around the room at the Golden Tulip, it was clear that the "Stalwarts" isn't just a name, it’s a character trait.
The Gallery is Live
If you weren't there, you missed a vibe that’s hard to put into words. From the sharp suits to the "power" handshakes and the endless laughter, the night was one for the books. Luckily, we captured it all.

What Lies Ahead
The reunion was a reminder that while we’ve all gone our separate ways, the foundation we built at Kakamega School is unshakable. This dinner wasn't just the end of a planning cycle; it’s the start of a more connected Stalwarts network. We’re looking at ways to support each other’s businesses, mentor the younger generation of students, and ensure that the Class of 2017 continues to lead by example.
To everyone who showed up: thank you for making it legendary. To those who couldn't make it: you were missed, but don't worry, this is just the beginning.
